EDM 19 - Draw something you've made

Two years ago I wanted a quilt I could kneel on and/or sit on when I pray.  It had to be durable and portable.  I made it using jean fabric and machine quilted it with navy blue quilting thread.  As I quilted, that design came to me.  I love that I can roll it up and put it away.

EDM 18 - Draw the view from a window of your house, apartment, office, etc.

It took me four days to sketch, draw & color the view outside my son's apartment window.  There's a lot out there to draw and I captured most of it.  I need lots of practice drawing trees so I left the smaller ones out.  Also omitted part of another building beside the restaurant, cars, another lamp post, and other small things.  Looking at the photo I should have colored the parking lot and side walks but that will have to wait until another day because it's cloudy here and hard to see.  In those four days, we've had rain, snow showers, sunshine, snow flurries and mostly cloudy weather.  I used colored pencils in the shades closest to the color of those items.

EDM 17 - Draw a musical instrument
Today I drew my dulcimer "Cher".  She was already named when I purchased her from a friend of a friend.  She has two birds carved in her and a bird sticker.  I traced the picks so they are the actual size.  Included the time and current weather information.

EDM 16 - Draw a favorite tool
A metal pencil sharpener is one of my favorite tools because I can now sharpen pencils without wasting lead.  Holding the pencil in my left hand and turning the sharpener with my right hand is the way to do it.  Duh!!  That was the best I could draw that pencil sharper because of those angles.  I drew the other items to fill up the page.

EDM 15 - Draw a tree or trees, leaves or branches
That tree is in the parking lot.  It was cold outside so I sat at the window and tried to draw what I saw.  Instead of cars, I drew that little bird.  The ends of branches are hard to draw because I can't always see how each one ends.

EDM 14 - Draw what you see in the morning when you get up
Angles, ANgles, ANGles, ANGLes, ANGLEs, ANGLES!!  Drawing those cabinet on the right side of that page was VERY challenging.  I need LOTS of practice!

EDM 13 - Draw your telephone (land line, cell, old-fashioned?)
A picture drawn inside the window of that phone would have been nice but my drawing skills aren't there, yet.  I want to learn how to make colors shine like they do in person.  There's so much I want/need to learn but for now, I'm trying to draw what I see and enjoying the journey.  Drawing is hard work but lots of fun.

EDM 12 - Draw what you ate for dinner

Ordered Chinese Food from Panda East because I love their House Special Chicken.  My rice kinda looks like pumpkin seeds.   From a distance, my son said my meal looked like tacos and chicken wings. lol  My little friend in the bottom lefthand corner drank that coke and ate that fortune cookie.  I truly enjoyed eating that food and drawing what we ate for dinner.  No, I didn't use those chopsticks.

EDM 11 - Draw your glasses or sunglasses

Today I drew snow goggles.  While drawing I could see my reflection and the items behind me in the lens but chose not to draw them.  They are really cool goggles.
EDM 10 - Draw your hand or hands (or someone else's if you like)

On March 20, 2015, I drew my left hand.  Arthritis and many years of hard work show in my hands.  It hard holding your left arm in the air and using your righthand to draw what you see.  Thankfully, my hand doesn't look that bad.  I plan to purchase skin tone colored pencils to color that drawing.  So far this is my least favorite drawing.  I'm hoping color will help.
EDM 9 - Draw a bit of "organized chaos" - your messy desk, your table stacked with books, etc.

On March 19, 2015, I also drew a table with books.  Drawing the angles in that table was challenging.  Enjoyed drawing those books.  There was no model for that drawing.  It's something that popped into my head.
EDM 8 - Draw your watch or other piece of jewelry

On March 19, 2015, I drew the cross I purchased at an American Indian Festival and Pow Wow in MD and my dad's broken SEIKO watch.  Trying to draw those circles in that cross was challenging because I couldn't draw each one the same size.
EDM 7 - Draw a bottle, jar or tin from the kitchen

On March 18, 2015, I drew a bottle of Tabasco Sauce.  Tabasco Sauce taste great on fried fish sandwiches, fried soft-shell crab sandwiches and crab cake sandwiches.  Some like it on scrambled eggs but I haven't tried that, yet.  Bring on the heat!!
EDM 6 - Draw your favorite well-loved object...or a childhood toy

On March 17, 2015, I drew my STAEDTLER Mars plastic eraser.  I love, love, love using it to erase unwanted pencil lines.  Tried crosshatching.
EDM 5 - Draw your bed

On March 16, 2015, I drew a bed.  When I added a pattern to that box spring mattress things went wrong.  Colors were added and that's the end result.  Sometimes things go wrong and that's okay.  Learn from your mistakes and move on.

Love the support I'm getting from artists on the Everyday Matters Yahoo Group.  Yahoo!! lol
EDM 4 - Draw your mug or cup

On March 15, 2015, I drew the mug I purchased the first time I visited Arizona.  Trying to draw the angle on the top and bottom of that mug was challenging but I had fun drawing and coloring it.  I like how it turned out.
EDM 3 - Purses, Wallets or Bags

On March 14, 2015, I drew my Giani Bernini purse.  The straps are longer but I drew that one shorter because I couldn't get the angle right as it laid over the top of the purse.  Love the stitching on that bag.  At that time I was afraid to draw another bag on that page.
EDM 2 - Draw a desk lamp or other lamp

After being sick for over a week, I drew my desk lamp.  Trying to get the base of that lamp right and drawing a cord hanging over an edge was challenging but it kinda looks like my desk lamp and I'm happy with that drawing.
EDM 1 - Draw a shoe

On March 4, 2015, I drew one of my Cole Haan shoes.  Posting that photo in my album on the Everyday Matters Yahoo Group was liberating.  I love those shoes and that drawing.
This blog was created to display photos of my sketchbook pages.  Each day I plan to draw an item on the Everyday Matters Challenge (EDM) List.  Please follow me on this exciting journey.
